Solazzo Ensemble
Sollazzo Ensemble brings to life the music of Francesco Landini.
Francesco Landini enjoyed A-list celebrity status in his time, as an organist and composer, his music appealing across social classes in his native 14th-century Florence. Although blind from the age of five, Landini referred repeatedly to physical descriptions in his song lyrics, often depicting eyes: whether filled with tears or gazing in wonder. His song book offers a glimpse of a strong and complex personality which the Sollazzo Ensemble brings to life in this performance.
Winner of the York Early Music Festival Young Artists Competition, the Sollazzo Ensemble boasts a diverse range of musical influences, including modern classical, jazz and folk music.
