The Gesualdo Six
Step into the chapel where it all began and celebrate the 10th anniversary of one of the world’s most acclaimed vocal ensembles. This special concert will feature some of The Gesualdo Six’s all-time favourite repertoire, including highlights from the ensemble’s first performances in Cambridge: from early English architectural masterpieces by Tallis, Byrd and Tomkins, to glories of the European Renaissance by Lobo, Gesualdo and Palestrina.
The concert also features evocative contemporary settings which build on ancient compositional techniques by György Ligeti and David Bednall, alongside a modern English madrigal by Sarah Rimkus, composed for The Gesualdo Six in 2016.
“Ingeniously programmed and impeccably delivered, with that undefinable excitement that comes from a group of musicians working absolutely as one.” – Gramophone
