Cambridge Early Music Concerts 2013

SPEAKING IN TONGUES: MUSIC BY THE GREAT POLYGLOT OF RENAISSANCE MUSIC, LASSUS

The Intrepid Academy

8.00pm, Wednesday 14 August, 2013
Trinity College Chapel, Cambridge
Tickets:  £25.00,  £20.00

Supple French chansons, passionate Italian madrigals and villanelle, earthy German Lieder, and the haunting Latin Sibylline Prophecies, not to mention music with no words at all - all by Orlandus Lassus and the composers he championed. From examples of his Musica Reservata (a style reserved for the most educated patrons) to the anarchic comic world of the commedia dell'arte, Lassus revelled in combining music and text - whatever the language!
