SPANISH TREASURE

Sirinu

7.30pm, Friday 8 April, 2011

Sirinu presents a colourful variety of Renaissance Spanish music by four composers all born 500 years ago: Alonso Mudarra, Antonio Cabezon, Juan de Bermudo and Diego Ortiz. The programme includes zarabandas and ciacconas; Mudarra's poetic love songs for voice, vihuela and harp; and foot-tapping guitar dance tunes, performed on 16th century instruments including guitars, harp, vihuela, chamber organ and wind, with Sara Stowe's "bright, captivating voice, full of longing and loss, life and lustiness" (CD Review).
